Jumbo Pictures was a New York based animation production company created by Jim Jinkins in 1989. Their first projects were commercials, Sesame Street shorts, and Richard Scarry educational videos. Their first and most pupular television series was the Nickelodeon and Disney cartoon, Doug.

When Jumbo Pictures started out, they were an independant studio, and from 1991 to 1996, were on Nickelodeon's payroll. Aside from Doug, they also produced the puppet show, Allegra's Window for Nick Jr.

Shortly after Disney bought ABC, Jumbo Pictures was bought by The Walt Disney Company. Their first project for Disney were new episodes of Doug, known as Brand Spanking New! Doug from 1996 to 1998, and Disney's Doug afterwards. The new series would air on ABC Saturday mornings from 1996 to 1999. In 1997, Jumbo Pictures produced their first spin-off from a pre-existing franchise, 101 Dalmatians: The Series. 101 Dalmatians had a much different art style from Jumbo's usual work, though half of the production was done by Jumbo, the rest by Walt Disney Television Animation. 101 Dalmatians ended in 1998. Also, in 1998, they produded their first Playhouse Disney program, PB & J Otter. Jumbo also did post-production services for Sabrina, The Animated Series, from DiC and Buena Vista Television, using mostly the same staff as 101 Dalmatians: The Series.

After PB & J Otter's cancellation in 2001, Jumbo Pictures broke off their ties with Disney and were re-named Cartoon Pizza. While they produced many shows for Disney, they were independant and also produced shows for Sesame Workshop. The Jumbo Pictures name was folded into Walt Disney Television Animation, and it's name is still used on Doug merchandise found at Hot Topic stores.
